TIP TRAIL

CALENDAR TRAIL

This is a good section.  You'll want to print it out.  We give you tips on what you need to do monthly to keep your yard, landscaping and garden tools looking great.  This year we are adding some decorating tips for the indoors!!  Here we go..... June.

**Indoor Tips**- Pick linens that you can change the look with the seasons.  For instance, we have a linen pattern that is called Saffron.  In the spring and summer months you can use cream, and mustard throw pillows, table cloth or towels (depending on the room) to lighten things up.  In the fall change your accent colors to copper, brown or navy and in the winter bring out the forest green and cranberry!!  Your main linen stays the same but the room changes with the seasons just by changing a few details!  Many of our linen patterns are versatile like this.  (Click here to go to the linen page to see available patterns). Remember, if you like it, than it's perfect!  If you don't like it, change it!  Need a tip on how to start, stop in and we can help! Happy decorating!!

**Outdoor Tips**- Go ahead and plant another row of tomatoes, corn and beans!!  Stagger the planting times so that you don't have a bumper crop that you can't eat or have the time to can or freeze.  Leaving about a week or two in between plantings will even out the harvest, reduce waste and have vegetables all the way to frost!
Don't cut the grass too short!!  Cutting short in the rainy season encourages the grass to grow faster to make more food for itself, but it will also allow for the grass to "cook" in the long hot and dry days.  Keeping the grass at a consistent height, mow in the evenings when the day starts to cool and try to mow a day or so after a good rain.  The extra growth in-between cuttings
will help retain moisture, shade the roots and keep a greener appearance overall.
Water, water, water!  We have had a lot of rain but it only takes a couple of days when temps rise to dry things out especially if you have good drainage.  Make sure to water in the evening or early in the morning.  If possible use a soaker hose that seeps verses spraying to keep water off of the foliage.  This will reduce molds, pests, water waste and flattening the plants.  If possible, us a multipurpose fertilizer that can be added directly to the soil (remember that compost pile...that's the perfect thing!).
Early blooming shrubs and or perennials may need a clipping!!  This is the time to prune or deadhead and remove any plant material that may be harboring unwanted pests.  Cleaning up as plants go thru their bloom cycles will leave less work and clean up in the fall!
